If you have never knitted, learned years ago and vaguely remember the process, only know the knit stitch and not the purl stitch or just need to build some confidence, this class is for you. You will learn the following skills: comfort and coordination using knitting needles, cast on, bind off, knit stitch, purl stitch, gauge, reading knit patterns, recognizing and fixing mistakes and weaving in ends. You will start with two simple washcloths in cotton yarn and, if you advance quickly, there will be other projects available to learn new skills.
If you have already know how to knit and purl but you don’t know how to knit anything but a square or rectangle, or you just want to advance to the next step, then this is the class for you. You will learn the following skills: shaping (increases/decreases), working in the round, working to gauge, reading patterns and charts, and fixing mistakes. More experienced students may be ready to learn textural stitches, cables, lace, or color techniques. This class will have an open approach where students will work at their own pace on their own projects based on their own individual level. For those students who don’t know much beyond knit and purl, the first project will be a knitted envelope in acrylic and then a wool hat. For students that have more experience, there will be several cowl patterns to choose from that have varying degrees of difficulty and highlight different techniques.
