Description
The goal of the TIPS program is to establish acceptable standards of practice for serving alcohol on premise. This course will certify individuals who sell alcohol in bars, restaurants, etc. Off-premise training is a different certification for people who work in liquor or package stores. This training is mandatory if you work in Worcester or most of the surrounding cities and towns. (It is not yet mandated by the state of MA).
During this 4 hour class, you will learn how to create a responsible environment and develop a new ease with your guests. The instructor will demonstrate a positive method for dealing with everyday drinking situations as well as showing you how to recognize the signs of intoxication and how to prevent problem situations with over-drinking. There will be a video shown which gives examples of how to and how not to deal with an intoxicated guest. The instructor will also inform you of the state laws concerning drinking that every server of alcohol needs to know.
This class will certify you for 3 years. There will be a 40 question multiple choice test at the end of the class. You will receive an email 3-4 weeks after the class stating whether you passed or failed.
