Class: Mondays, Tuesdays  and Thursdays, 5:30-9:30 pm, April 7 to May 29, 2023, 21 classes, 84   hours.
Location: Worcester Technical High School, 1 Officer Manny Familia Way.

Fee: $1,295  includes Curriculum, Materials,  and qualifying blood draws to sit for the test. There will be a $117 clinical exam fee when you sit for the test.

In order to sit for the NHA exam, you need to have or expect to earn a high school diploma or GED/high school equivalency within the next 12 months

Are you interested in becoming a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)? This course will prepare you for work in a laboratory or clinical setting, collecting blood for testing or donation, and provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and blood draw requirements to take the CPT exam accredited by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) during the last class.

Phlebotomists are employed throughout the healthcare system including in hospitals, neighborhood health centers, medical group practices, HMO’s, public health facilities, veteran hospitals, insurance carriers, and in other healthcare settings. The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood and other specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis.


As a Phlebotomy Technician, you may perform some or all of the following tasks:
  • Draw blood from patients and blood donors
  • Evaluate patients’ ability to withstand procedure
  • Explain blood-drawing procedure to patients and answer questions
  • Perform basic point of care testing, such as blood glucose levels
  • Prepare blood, urine and other specimens for testing
  • Verify patient/donor identity
  • Maintain medical equipment such as needles, test tubes and blood vials
