Description
During this 220 hour course, you will learn the basic skills and knowledge needed to become a successful entry-level diesel technician. Classroom instruction will be followed by hands-on practice working under the supervision of experienced instructors. Topics include safety, suspension, brakes, steering systems, exhaust and emissions, four-stroke engine theory, design characteristics, service techniques, diagnostics and repair strategies. You will disassemble, measure, inspect and reassemble diesel engines in accordance with factory blueprint specifications.
Jonathan Camarra has worked in the diesel industry for over 15 years as a DPW employee, adult education instructor and as a manager for an industry supplier. His experience teaching Post Secondary students allows him to provide students with a useful and hands on education. Our program also offers students the opportunity to interact with industry partners who are looking to employ trained Diesel Technicians and Truck Drivers.
Employment for diesel technicians is expected to increase by 9% from 2016 – 2026 with a 2023 median annual wage of $58,970 per year
$28.35 per hour (Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment Projections).
