This course will introduce you to CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) programming and hands-on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) operator skills. Training will focus on drawing and programming a part to given specifications, safe operation of CNC Milling and Turning Centers, and expose you to the use of standard setup sheets, tool lists, blueprints, inspection reports, and basic manufacturing processes.
You will utilize the Titans of CNC Academy resources to model and program your parts. You will be introduced to cutting tools, tool holders, speeds & feed calculations, work offsets and tool length offsets, and will machine parts to blueprint specifications and perform first article inspections. You will be expected to perform CAD/CAM homework assignments on your own personal computer. Computer experience and a basic understanding of manufacturing is necessary to be successful in this class. Preference will be given to students in our advanced manufacturing cohort who have taken other Night Life courses.
