If you are interested in starting a career in advanced manufacturing or are currently employed in this profession, workforce development funds of $445 per student from the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development may be available to you. Please select “With Funding” option  when registering if you are willing to work with MassHire North Central staff to collect all data requirements such as demographics, certificates of training completion and job placement. Description

This course will introduce you to CAD/CAM applications, G-Code programming and hands-on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) operator skills. Training will focus on writing code, drawing and programming a part to given specifications, safe operation of CNC Milling and Turning Centers, and expose you to the use of standard setup sheets, tool lists, blueprints, inspection reports, and basic manufacturing processes.

You will utilize the Titans of CNC Academy resources to model and program your parts. You will be introduced to cutting tools, tool holders, speeds & feed calculations, work offsets and tool length offsets, and will machine parts to blueprint specifications and perform first article inspections. You will be expected to perform G-Code and CAD/CAM and homework assignments on your own personal computer. Computer experience and a basic understanding of manufacturing is necessary to be successful in this class.

What is CAD/CAM?

CAD/CAM stands for computer-aided design & computer-aided manufacturing. CAD/CAM applications are used to both design a product and program manufacturing processes, specifically, CNC machining.

What is G-Code?

Manufacturers all around the world use CNC programming to control a machine’s tools to produce parts. At the heart of this automated manufacturing process is a set of instructions for the applications that tell a CNC machine where – and how – to move. These instructions are called G-Code.
