Description

What is Biomanufacturing?

Biomanufacturing is a type of manufacturing or biotechnology that utilizes biological systems to produce commercially important biomaterials and biomolecules for use in medicines, food and beverage processing, and industrial applications. The course will introduce you to the regulatory atmosphere of the industry or current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). You will also develop skills in engineering (facilities, metrology, validation, environmental health and safety, and operational excellence); quality (quality assurance and quality control); and production (upstream process, downstream processing, and process development). This course will prepare you to pursue entry-level positions within the field.

According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS), employment of biological technicians is expected to grow 7% percent from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations, which are expected to grow around 5 percent.
